Tottenham and Fulham have been warned to stay off one of Manchester United’s stars.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has warned potential suitors that he wants to keep midfielder Scott McTominay this season. LondonWorld has been told that Scotland international McTominay is on the list of potential midfielders Tottenham Hotspur are looking at, alongside Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

The 27-year-old, who was the subject of a failed bid from West Ham last summer, has been linked to Fulham as a potential replacement for Joao Palhinha, who has joined Bayern Munich.

Last season, McTominay started 27 matches for the Red Devils and was their joint-third-highest scorer with 10 goals after moving into a more advanced role where he added goals to his game. Impressively, he outscored more established names like Marcus Rashford and Christian Eriksen.

He was also pivotal for his country, contributing seven goals as Scotland qualified for the Euros in Germany. As reports continue to link the Scotland international with a move away from the club, manager Ten Hag confirmed 27-year-old to remain with the club.

Ten Hag said when asked about McTominay’s future: “We have very good players, so there will always be interest from other clubs. When you score 10 goals in a season and also perform very well for Scotland, then there will be interest.

“But we want to keep him because he is a very important player for our squad. What he can contribute, as we saw last season once we had our sixes available, is that he could play in a more advanced role, and he is a highly interesting player for our team.”

Tottenham have lost Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to Marseille and left Bryan Gil in North London while the first team heads off to Asia for their pre-season game. This suggests that they will be in the transfer market for a new midfielder to strengthen the squad.
