Bayern Munich will take on Tottenham in the Coupang Player series on Aug. 3 but Spurs have fan been handed some disappointing news.

Former Tottenham striker Harry Kane will miss their pre-season game against Bayern Munich due to a knock he picked up with England at the Euros. Bayern manager Vincent Kompany confirmed that the English striker, alongside three others, would be missing the game. He said in his press conference: "Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Kingsley Coman won't be there, but then hopefully for the first cup game."

Kane moved to Bayern last summer in a deal worth €120 million ($131m) and finished the season as the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 36 goals. Despite his exploits, Bayern finished third in the table, 18 points behind champions Bayer Leverkusen.

At the Euros, Kane bagged three goals, but he surprisingly looked slow and not at his best, especially when his position was taken up by the likes of Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins. Sources have said the injury that has kept Kane out is one he picked up prior to the Euros. Even though he managed to play well in the competition, he was never his usual self.

The hope is that Kane will be ready to play when the two teams meet again in the second pre-season game in North London on August 10, just days before the first game of the season kicks off. Kane is Tottenham’s record goal scorer, and despite turning down numerous opportunities to move to Germany, many of the fans still hold him in high esteem and would love to see him play at their North London stadium.

Last season, a Kane-less Spurs finished fifth. They impressed at the start of the campaign, but injuries and loss of form caused them to struggle midway through and ultimately finish fifth, missing out on the prestigious Champions League and settling for the Europa League.
