Tottenham move 'ahead' in race to land in-demand wonderkid amid £25m offer claim

Tottenham have been linked to the 18-year-old winger alongside Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Tottenham are keen to add reinforcements during the January transfer window as they aim to weather the storm of their current injury crisis.

Manager Ange Postecoglou is under increasing pressure to improve results after his side lost 3-2 to Everton in their last Premier League match, leaving them 15th in the league table, eight points above the relegation zone.

Spurs have faced a lot of injury trouble this season with the likes of Micky Van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Guglielmo Vicario having extended periods on the side-lines.

However, they also lost winger Brennan Johnson to a calf injury during their 2-1 defeat to rivals Arsenal. Johnson was a big loss due to the seven goals and two assists that he’d provided so far this season.

However, they have now emerged as the front-runners to sign a Premier League winger, who could help to replace Johnson in the starting XI.

Spurs ‘ahead’ in the race to sign Tyler Dibling

Tottenham have been linked to signing Southampton midfielder Tyler Dibling alongside Premier League rivals Liverpool and Newcastle. Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are also in the race for the 18-year-old.

According to a new report by SportWitness, the German side are prepared to offer £25m for Dibling, however, Southampton are reportedly holding out for a better fee if they are to let him leave.

The Saints are demanding a much higher fee, due to the significant interest from Premier League clubs, including Tottenham. The report suggests that Spurs are the front-runners amongst the Premier League clubs chasing Dibling.

Due to Southampton’s high valuation of the 18-year-old, Leipzig believe that it will be difficult for them to get a deal across the line, which might allow Tottenham to swoop in with a higher offer for the midfielder.

Dibling has been a bright spark for a poor Saints team this year. He has made 24 appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists. The 18-year-old’s contract at St Mary’s Stadium is due to expire in June 2027, meaning he could more likely get a big money move in the summer of 2026, should Southampton keep hold of him this month.

Spurs looking to add attacking reinforcements

Postecoglou’s side are keen to bring in a couple of attackers in the remainder of the January window if they can, in order to help with their lack of depth up front.

They have been linked to Barcelona attacker Ansu Fati as of late, with claims that they submitted a loan bid for the 22-year-old, with an option to buy him at the end of the season.

However, Spurs may be reluctant to go through with a move due to the fact that Fati has been dealing with a poor injury record since he returned to Barcelona after a year-long loan spell at Brighton in the 2023/24 season.
