Tottenham win battle against Bayern Munich for stunning £26million signing and he could face Man United

Tottenham are set to seal their second January signing in the transfer window after agreeing Radu Dragusin deal.

Tottenham have booked a medical for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin after agreeing a stunning deal with the Italian club for the highly-rated defender. German giants Bayern Munich had tried to hijack the move but Tottenham's pull was too strong and the defender will head to north London instead.

Spurs will pay an initial fee of £21.5million plus £4.5m in potential add-ons. Dragusin will fly to London in the next few hours to complete his medical as the club speed up things to make him available for the Premier League game against Manchester United this weekend, LondonWorld has been told.

Spurs young defender Djed Spence who cut short his loan deal at Leeds United is also said to be heading in the opposite direction for the next six months as part of the deal. This comes just a day after Tottenham confirmed the signing of German forward Timo Werner.

The Lilywhites have lost three players including club captain Son Heung-min to both the Asian Cup and the AFCON, so getting players in will delight manager Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham are in the fourth round of the FA Cup and just outside the top four of the Premier League, they were top in the first 10 games before everything including injuries and suspensions started in November last year.

The arrival of Dragusin who is also experienced at the international level is expected to raise the competition level in the squad as they look to at least challenge a spot in the top four of the season.

He was integral in leading his home country to Euro 2024, starting all ten group stage games as Romania finished top of Group I ahead of second-placed Switzerland.
