Van de Ven who has been sensational all season will have a scan once the swelling has subsided before the club decides on a course of recovery and possible replacement.

This has been a challenging week for the Lilywhites who lost their unbeaten start to the season, to their closest rivals and have James Maddison, their creative force also a doubt for their weekend game against Wolves.

Spurs are long-term admirers of Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi, although the Eagles are unlikely to sanction a sale mid-season.
