Tottenham player ratings vs Chelsea: Two score 4/10 as spirited Spurs finally beaten but not without a fight

Tottenham player ratings as Spurs battle but ultimately lose at home to Chelsea in one of the games of the season

Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end following a 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday night.

It was the Lilywhites who took the lead through a deflected Dejan Kulusevski strike and they thought they had grabbed the second when Son Heung min finished at the near post but VAR intervened to rule out the goal.

The game then turned on its head when Tottenham’s Cristian Romero was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Enzo Fernandez. Cole Palmer stepped up to score and level things up and Chelsea dominated the game from there.

The Blues created chances and it wasn't long before Raheem Sterling broke Tottenham's heart when he beat the offside line to set up Nicolas Jackson for Chelsea’s second of the night.

In a game of so many emotions, it was Chelsea who kept their emotions in check and could have scored more if they were clinical enough. Nicolas Jackson added two goals late on to take the game beyond doubt.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou had not lost a home game in more than 50 games, but he would have been proud of the shift his team put in even when they were two men down and the clock ticking against them.

Here is how we rated every Tottenham player out there today
