Tottenham striker arrives in Spain to complete stunning loan deal ahead of transfer deadline day

Tottenham signed Alejo Veliz for £13million but he's set to head out on loan today.

Tottenham's Argentinian striker Alejo Veliz has arrived in Spain to undergo medical ahead of signing a six-month loan deal at Sevilla, LondonWorld has been told. Spurs signed the 19-year-old  from Rosario Central for £13million last summer.

He's managed just eight league games and scored one goal but he's not played since New Year's Eve after he picked up a hamstring injury against Bournemouth.

Veliz has returned to light team training but with Spurs signing Timo Werner and club captain Son Hueng-min set to return this month from the Asian Cup, the club and player have decided going out on loan is the best at the moment.

He arrived in Spain today and will have his medical with the deal expected to go through before tonight's deadline. Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou rates Veliz highly but with Rcharlison finding form and Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, and Manor Solomon all able to play in the attacking line, a loan would help the Argentine under-21 striker rapidly develop.

Spurs looking for top-four finish:

Tottenham showed mental strength to come from a goal down to beat Brentford 3-2 and move back to the top four of the Premier League table for the first time in 2024. They dropped from the Champions League places following the 4-2 defeat by Brighton on 28 December.

The squad is getting stronger with James Maddison who had been injured since November starting his first league game of the year Wednesday night. They travel to Goodison this weekend looking to go on a winning run.
