Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski has admitted he is delighted to finally seal his move and reveals it was frustrating having to wait a long time for the deal to get confirmed.

The Swede first joined Tottenham on an 18-month loan before his move was made permanent this summer. But Spurs had to renegotiate the deal because the obligation to buy option had expired due to the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

After a fee was originally set at £30 million, Tottenham managed to secure him for just under £26 million as they look to boost the squad for new manager Ange Postecoglou.

The forward, who is now on holiday, recently admitted he had to hold his breath at some point. He said: “I don’t think the situation has been handled the way it should be handled, but I’m happy that everything is ready now and that it will be Tottenham.

“Of course, I would have wished that everything had been clear much earlier and that I should not sit and wait for a decision to be made.

“But with how it turned out with the coaches in the club and that the club had to change a lot of people. I understand that it took extra time that you had to wait for the new people to come in to be able to ask them.

“It has been hard to wait. You always want to know where you are going to live. Finally, I can plan for the future and find a new home.”

Tottenham finished eighth in the Premier League last season, failing to qualify for any form of European football. But the club will hoping it will be able to rediscover its DNA under Ange Postecoglou, who was a massive success during his time with Celtic in Scotland.
