Tottenham have been locked in negotiations with Juventus this week to reduce the price of forward Dejan Kulusevski according to LondonWorld sources.

Tottenham signed the Swedish midfielder in 2022 on an 18-month loan deal for a fee of £8.3m, and an obligation to buy him for £29.2 million.

But there was a clause that moved the deal from obligatory to optional based on Champions League qualification and with Spurs failing to secure Champions League football for next season, they are now looking to beat down the price.

Sources have said Tottenham are still keen on keeping Kulusevski who featured 30 times in the Premier League last season and scored two goals for the club.

He also grabbed seven assists as Spurs finished a disappointing eighth in the Premier League, missing out on any kind of European football for the first time since 2010.

Kulusevski’s start to life at Tottenham was electric as he provided the assists that helped Tottenham snatch Champions League football from rivals Arsenal- and also aided forward Son Heung-min to secure the Premier League Golden Boot.

Injuries and a drop in form from everyone at the club meant his first full season did not go as planned with manager Antonio Conte leaving and accusing everyone of a weak mentality.

Spurs eventually crashed and from a position of promise lost all the gains and are only now attempting to build again with the appointment of highly-respected Greek-Australian manager Ange Postecoglou who impressed during his time at Scottish giants Celtic.

In a season of ultimate lows, record signing Richarlison could only bag one Premier League goal despite arriving with a huge reputation for being Brazil’s number-one striker and playing a pivotal role as Everton escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth the previous campaign.

The one outstanding constant as ever was striker Harry Kane who produced another 30-goal season despite all the chaos around him. Tottenham will hope he honours his final year, and possibly sign a new deal despite Real Madrid and Manchester United all lurking.
