Tottenham Hotspur are said to be one of three Premier League sides ready to battle it out for Angel Gomes’ signature. The England international plays for Ligue 1 club Lille but his current contract is set to run out at the end of the season , alerting Spurs, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Liverpool as to his availability.
Gomes recently won his first two senior England caps, having made six appearances for Lille this campaign and previously impressing for the Three Lions at youth level. The 24-year-old came on as a substitute in England’s UEFA Nations League win over Ireland, before playing the full 90 minutes in the subsequent 2-0 triumph over Finland.

GiveMeSport has suggested that Spurs and Liverpool are ‘seriously considering’ offering the midfielder a route back to playing in the Premier League, while Man United are said to have a small level of interest in bringing him back to Old Trafford, five years on since he left for France.
The report notes that the Magpies are considered ‘outsiders’ in the ongoing battle for Gomes’ services in 2025. Despite the claim, Eddie Howe’s side are still showing interest and are reportedly not prepared to rule themselves out of contention, even though their competition includes three ‘Big Six’ clubs.
Gomes is now in the final ten months of his Lille contract, which sees him earn £12,000-a-week. There are now only a few months before the January transfer window opens up, at which point he can begin to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of France.

It is noted by the reports that the midfielder will be hopeful of securing a hefty pay rise if he leaves as a free agent and may demand close to £150,000-a-week as he seeks to use the ongoing interest from the Premier League to his advantage.
The Magpies could find it difficult to compete with Liverpool, who are playing in the Champions League football this season; while both the Red Devils and Spurs are currently able to offer Europa League football.
