Manager confirms Tottenham's 'brilliant' January target 'won't sign new contract'
A player Tottenham are said to be interested in signing has reportedly rejected a new contract at his current club. Spurs have already invested heavily this season with Ange Postecoglou getting another chance to put his own stamp on his squad over the course of the summer transfer window.

Despite that, there is already talk of further signings in the January window, and a former player is being tipped to return.
Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters has been tipped to return to Spurs four years after leaving, with the full-back having been a consistent performer for the Saints over recent years. Walker-Peters has made 140 league appearances for Southampton, but he does face an uncertain future with his contract set to expire in 2025.
The 27-year-old has reportedly been offered a new deal, but he is keeping his options open at this stage despite the Saints’ Premier League return. “Negotiations have broken down between Kyle Walker-Peters and Southampton,” Fabrizio Romano has tweeted. “Southampton had officially offered to extend KWP contract back in August but at this stage seems terms are far away from being agreed. Kyle Walker-Peters’ contract expires in June 2025.”

Martin admission
The Saints tied up a new deal for Jan Bednarek this week, a deal Southampton boss Russell Martin described as ‘massive’. Martin has said of Walker-Peters’ situation, as reported by the Daily Echo: "He won't sign a new contract right now. I don't know if that will change at any point. It is a situation we have to be conscious and aware of. If it's not going to change then he needs to give us everything on the pitch as Stuey (Armstrong) and Che (Adams) did last year.
"It will be the owner's call in January (if Saints will cash in on Walker-Peters), it will depend on how much he has played by then and his level of performance. It will come down to how he is feeling and how we are feeling. It depends on so much. I can't give you a definitive answer on that. It also depends on who comes in for him and what clubs value him at because nobody has done that in the last three transfer windows. Kyle has been brilliant for us, and whilst that continues to be the case, it is not a problem at all."
