The Norwegian star is now the subject of interest from six Premier League clubs

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race for the signature of Nordsjaelland defender Daniel Svensson.

Currently first-choice for left-back at Spurs is Destiny Udogie who has been exceptionally impressive for Ange Postecoglou since joining the club last summer. However, the young Italian has also struggled with a few injury concerns and fatigue which have seen mistakes creep into his game.

A new left-back to help relieve the pressure on Udogie, as well as provide genuine competition for the role has reportedly become a new priority and TBR Football are now reporting that Spurs have joined Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Brentford in tracking the Swedish Under-21 star.

The Swedish left-back has himself said that he is likely to ‘move on relatively soon’ from his current home with the Norwegian outfit, suggesting Svensson could head to the Premier League as early as January, or at the very least next summer.

The report adds that the 22-year-old believes himself to be ready for the step up and hopes to find a team which can put in place a solid plan for his continued development.

Starting out with Brommapojkarna in the Swedish Allsvenskan, Svensson headed to Nordsjaelland in 2020 and has since gone on to make 116 league appearances for them, scoring five goals. The left-back, who has also played in a central midfield role - also has 20 Swedish U21 appearances to his name.

Svensson was previously likened to the France international and Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga due to his ability to slot into numerous different positions and his impressive physicality.

It is not yet known what Nordsjaelland would be hopeful of receiving in terms of financial compensation for Svensson, but Transfermarkt has put the left-back’s value at £2.5million - seemingly a bargain for a starlet who has already been compared to one Real Madrid’s best La Liga and Champions League performers.
