The result leaves the North London giants unbeaten in their opening seven league matches as they chase a return to the Champions League places.

Postecoglou is also hoping to guide the North London giants to silverware for the first time since 2008 and he has enjoyed his fair share of trophies in recent years after an incredible two-year stint in charge of Celtic.

The new manager has already added a number of attacking players to the Spurs team in James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Manor Salomon and Dejan Kulusevski. But Postecoglou is rumoured to be in the market for further attacking additions in January and he could turn his attention to a former Celtic man in the winter window.

Portuguese playmaker Jota was a product of the distinguished Benfica academy which has produced a host of talented footballers such as Goncalo Ramos, Joao Felix and more recently Antonio Silva and Joao Neves.

Jota was a useful squad player for the Portuguese giants when he burst onto the scene as a teenager but he was sent out on loan to Real Valladolid and Celtic before making the permanent switch to Glasgow.

Postecoglou was a big admirer of Jota during their time together and he helped the team to two league titles, one Scottish Cup and two League Cups in just two seasons.

But his future at the club is already in jeopardy as he was bizarrely left out of his team’s squad for the league season.

Talks are ongoing between Al Ittihad and Jota to find a resolution, with the forward hoping that he can be released from his contract and pursue an immediate move back to Europe.

However, Al-Ittihad are likely to want a fee for the player that they only recently paid £25m for and the outlet also claims that they may look to sell the player in January.

Premier League sides Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United are all reportedly keeping watchful eyes on the debacle too, but Tottenham may emerge as the favourites due to the relationship between Postecoglou and the Portuguese star.

Jota is uncapped at international level but he is hoping to make his breakthrough in the upcoming tournament at Euro 2024 and a move back to Europe could offer him the best platform to realise that dream.
