Ange Postecoglou handed boost at Hotspur Way as 27-year-old is spotted in training for the first time

Timo Werner has gone straight into Tottenham training ahead of their weekend's Premier League game.

Tottenham Hotspur's new German striker Timo Werner was spotted in training for the first time on Wednesday afternoon ahead of their game against Manchester United this weekend. Werner completed a loan move to the north London club this week and has wasted little time in getting straight into work

The 27-year-old only signed for six months, but Spurs can make the deal permanent for less than £16million if he impresses manager Ange Postecoglou. His arrival will bolster Tottenham's forward options with Son Heung-min away with South Korea for the Asian Cup and James Maddison sidelined with injury.

He was spotted alongside Brazilian Richarlison who is expected to form a striking partnership with him at least till club captain Son Heung-min returns next month. The German forward gives manager Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou a different weapon with his pace and experience an asset for the Lilywhites.

Werner has Premier League experience with Chelsea after joining the Blues in a £45m move from Bundesliga club Leipzig in 2020. He scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for the west London club, winning the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup, before returning to Leipzig in 2022.

He's only started two Bundesliga games all season with Belgian forward Lois Openda preferred to him at RB Leipzig, so moving back to the Premier League where he has a point to prove could benefit him and push him back to the German national team where he's played 57 times but hasn't been involved since March last year.
