Tottenham Hotspur have leapfrogged into the Premier League top spot following their win over Luton Town on Saturday. Ange Postecoglou guided his side to their sixth win of the season after summer signing Micky van de Ven popped up with a goal in the second half to snatch a big three points at Kenilworth Road.

James Maddison continued his impressive creative streak after providing his fellow summer arrival with his first goal for the club. Maddison has now tallied two goals and five assists in eight Premier League games since joining Spurs from the relegated Leicester City for £40 million.

Spurs remain unbeaten thanks to their latest win, which marks their best ever start to a league season after eight games since 1960/61. What’s more admirable is they played the entire second half with ten men, following Yves Bissouma’s sending off just before half-time.

The 27-year-old was given his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card for diving and naturally, social media had a lot to say about it. Jamie O’Hara took to Twitter to air his frustrations over Bissouma’s red card.

“So stupid from Bissouma, what’s he thinking? Got what he deserved but so frustrating,” the pundit and former midfielder wrote before discussing Tottenham’s initial struggle to find the back of the net.

“Have to take your chances from the start, not convinced with certain players. The other team will grow in confidence now, it’s a massive battle.”

Of course, O’Hara was celebrating not long after thanks to van de Ven’s heroics, which see Spurs jump ahead of reigning champions Manchester City to the top of the Premier League table.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now two points behind Spurs after their shock loss to Wolves last time out. They will be eager to snatch their place back but they face the tall ask of taking on last season’s title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.
