Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a huge confidence boost in their pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. LondonWorld reported yesterday that Spurs would be ‘opening talks’ with the England winger with a view to getting a quick deal secured before the upcoming European Championships this summer.
Eze, 25, has been on exceptional form for the Selhurst Park side this campaign, scoring 11 goals and contributing four assists in the Premier League and has consequently been attracting interest from the top clubs in the league. While Manchester City had been linked with a move for the winger, it now appears Spurs are set to pip them to his signature.

The Three Lions beat the visitors 3-0 at St. James’ Park with Southgate opting for an experimental starting XI, with Eze enjoying 63 minutes on the pitch before being subbed off for Jack Grealish.
Following his display in Newcastle, Southgate spoke to Channel 4 to say of both Eze and goal-scorer Cole Palmer to say their performances were “very good. I thought they both played with freedom. Ebe has got lovely movement to go past people in the centre of the pitch, he has power, so really happy with what he did.
“I thought Cole a couple of times was trying to be a bit too precise, trying to get a touch to open up the shot, when maybe he could have got his shot away a bit earlier a couple of times and got a couple himself.”

Of course, there is no guarantee Eze will leave Palace this summer, particularly after signing a three-and-a-half year contract extension in November and given how excitingly Oliver Glasner’s time in Croyden as begun, but as a tactically aware and fluid style of player, he appears to be an excellent fit for Postecoglou’s footballing approach.
