Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed he and his team face a mountain to climb with injuries and suspension threatening to knock their campaign off the tracks.

The biggest loss is not their unbeaten start to the season coming to an end but losing their defensive shield in Cristian Romero who was sent off in the game against Chelsea and the injury to Micky van de Ven.

The Dutch defender has been sensational and his loss which the manager describes as significant could go a long way in determining how well they play throughout the remainder of the season.

Still hurting from the defeat to their sworn rivals, Ange Postecoglou confirmed he had bigger things to worry about with the injuries to both James Maddison and Van de Ven.

He told reporters: “It’s too early. With Micky, it’s a pretty significant one. He [Maddison] got a knock on the ankle.

“We were down one man already. It made sense to make a couple of changes at that point.”

Tottenham will have to pick themselves up with tricky games against a Wolves side who are more than capable of causing an upset before tests against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

The game against Chelsea tested them in a way they had not been before this season so how they respond to this will go a long way into determining how great they will be under Ange Postecoglou.
