Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on the work permit of marquee new signing Radu Dragusin ahead of this weekend's visit to Manchester United.

It's set to be a pivotal meeting in the race for Europe and Spurs are to be boosted by having their two new January signings in the squad for the trip to the North West. Forward Timo Werner has joined the side on loan from RB Leipzig and the club forked out £21.5 million for centre-back Dragusin from Genoa this week.

The arrival of Dragusin couldn't come at a better time for Postecoglou and his Champions League-chasing side, who have been without Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in recent weeks due to injury. The Australian has been forced to play Emerson and Ben Davies, regularly full-backs, in the central position.

Speaking in his press conference today, Postecoglou provided a fitness update on his squad with more worries in defence after the versatile Welshman picked up an injury. He said: "From last week, Ben Davies came off with a hamstring - probably looking at a month or so with him. Gio Lo Celso, similar, but it's a bit harder to diagnose where he's at so we'll send him for tests on Monday but he's out. Dane Scarlett has picked up an injury in training so he's out. Both muscle injuries - Dane hamstring, Gio muscle.

"The only one to join the main group today is Romero and that's it I think. He's just started training so it's fair to say it might be a bit close this weekend."

With Davies out for a month and Romero still needing time to be match-fit, Postecoglou could play his new man from the start against Manchester United on Sunday - although Van de Ven is fit again and was on the bench against Burnley, so could slot in next to Emerson.

The Spurs boss was asked if there may be any visa or paperwork problems to stop him from fielding the new defender, to which he replied: "From what I'm told it shouldn't be a problem. If all the relevant paperwork comes through he'll be in the squad."
