The game was largely dominated by Tottenham’s under-21s with most of the first team players away on international duty, but club skipper Hugo Lloris was in post for large parts of the game which will serve as a boost especially going into the business end of the season.

League One side Ipswich Town won 3-2 with defender Japhet Tanganga and forwards Lucas Moura bagging the goals for Spurs but the visitors did have more first team players which would have tilted the game towards them.

The absence of manager Antonio Conte whose long-term future is still hanging in the balance was still in Turin Italy, his trip already pre-planned to spend time with his family before returning to Hotspurs Way for the final stretch of his season.

The Lilywhites season is fizzling out with both injuries and uncertainty around the manager’s future looking like taking a toll generally- Ben Davies who has been one of the players on form has picked up a hamstring injury and could be out for six weeks.

He joins the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma who have been battling injuries and racing against time to be fit again this season. Tottenham take on relegation-threatened Everton at Goodison before hosting the in-form Brighton and Hove Albion side in north London.
