Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new permanent boss. The Australian manager has left Scottish giants Celtic to take over the London club.

He has penned four-year contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will officially start on 1st July. The 57-year-old arrives in the Premier League on the back of winning the Scottish Premiership title two seasons in a row.

Spurs chairman has said: “Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play. He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy - everything that is important to our Club. We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead.”

Postecoglou started his managerial career at South Melbourne before spells at Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Victory and Yokohama F. Marinos, as well as the Australia national team. He joined Celtic in 2021 and won 73.45% of games in charge of the Hoops. Here is a look at how Spurs fans have reacted on social media to his arrival...

@Coysssss6 - “Just back him until you finally get to retweet/mention you were against him from the start. Welcome Ange, lets do this big man.”

@GaryRWard - “Welcome Ange, Let’s hope we can all collectively enjoy football again.”

@CuppaLibSpurs - “Dare i say it as a spurs fan… I actually don’t think Kane is built for an Ange Postecoglou system. On the assumption we kept him, would he drop into the 10 role behind the likes of Richarlison and work within the central midfield pivot?”

@LeeMountford01 - “I don’t know much about #Postecoglou, but I’ll definitely get behind him at #Spurs. Trouble is, there seems to be a lot wrong with the club so it’s gonna be tough. Hope he can turn it around.”

@MarkLewis1805 - “Watch this space. Ange will resurrect our club. COYS!!”

@Zeus1882x - “4 years makes me feel safe warm and fuzzy”

@Bobbystewart03 - “Very happy with that appointment. All I want is to enjoy watching fast flowing football again, and that’s what he can do. Fed up of Jose and conte ball.”

@SwanseaSpur - “Hard to get behind an Aussie a week before the Ashes but big Ange is definitely winning everything!! Come on you mighty Lilywhites!!”

@geddesjf - “Time to get behind the new man! Welcome Ange.”

@TomWush - “If Mourinho and Conte the serial winners couldn’t turn them bottlers around then good luck to Big Ange!”

The fact Spurs aren’t in Europe next term could be a blessing in disguise. It allows Postecoglou to focus fully on the Premier League and it reduces their fixtures schedule which is a big boost.
