From Franck Kessie to Matthijs de Ligt: Five players Antonio Conte is tipped to sign for Tottenham in January

The Antonio Conte era has well and truly begun at Tottenham Hotspur, and players are already adjusting to being banned from taking in fizzy drinks and having tomato ketchup.

The serial winner set his team up in a compact typically-Italian way to earn a draw, along with an rare clean sheet at Goodison Park.

Conte and director of football Fabio Paratici have both been tight lipped about potential signings, but LondonWorld understands that work is being done behind the scenes to reinforce the team in the January transfer window.

Here are five players that have been mentioned in the Italian media who could move to North London this winter.

Franck Kessie

Kessie is one of the most in-form midfielders in Serie A and has refused to sign a new deal at AC Milan.

Last season, he was one of the stand out players for at the San Siro and helped them back into the Champions League.

Milan are attempting a title challenge and they face a decision to either keep him or lose him for free in the summer.

Strong and technically gifted, Kessie is getting interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich but who wouldn’t want to work with Antonio Conte.

Matthijs de Ligt

Fair to say De Ligt hasn’t got going in Turin, and will be desperate to draw a line under it and start a new challenge.

The Netherlands international was tipped to be the next big thing when he left Ajax, but a combination of drop in form and difficulty in adapting to challenges abroad hasn’t helped his course.

Conte is the master of micromanagement and De Ligt’s camp believe he will be able to find his best form under a very driven winner like the Italian.

The Premier League will suit his style of play.

Lautaro Martínez

Conte sets his team up up to begin the press from the front and playing alongside Lukaku, Martinez did that to perfection last season.

Kane and Son might have a very good understanding, and score a lot of goals between them, but with the Englishman’s future still up in the air, there is growing chance that Conte could go back to Inter Milan for the Argentinian hitman.

Inter Milan have shipped off some big names but they will still need to let go off more and a tempting offer in January could be on the cards.

Alessio Romagnoli

Regarded as one of the best Italian defenders and very well adapt to playing in the three-back system, Romagnoli hasn’t featured as much as he would have liked since the arrival of Tomori and is said to be considering his future at Milan.

Not many Italians will turn down a chance to play for Antonio Conte, and with doubts still hanging over the ability of Eric Dier and Davinson Sánchez, Tottenham could move for the powerful defender.

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling has said he will consider his future at Manchester City if his playing time does not improve, and the England star could be just what Tottenham Hotspur need.

A chance to move back to London, assured playing time and playing for another top manager who can teach him new things would be appealing.

Sterling, who starred for England during the Euros, has surprisingly been on the periphery at Manchester City, and Conte could do with his burning pace and the Premier League experience to bring the winning mentality back to N17.
