All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Tottenham as they prepare to face Aston Villa.

Tottenham are now just a matter of hours away from their clash with Leicester City on Sunday afternoon. Spurs are in need of a consistent run of form to move away from the relegation spots, and they cannot afford to lose to a Leicester City side currently in the bottom three.

In the meantime, the search for new signings goes on, with Ange Postecoglou in desperate need of more bodies. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the North London club.

Gimenez blow

Tottenham will face competition in their reported bid to land striker Santiago Gimenez. The Feyenoord frontman was tipped to make the move to North London, but it seems another European heavyweight has moved first.

Calciomercato.com report that AC Milan have now submitted a bid worth £30.2milion plus ££.36million in add-ons. The Mexican striker has scored 15 goals in 18 games across all competitions so far this season.

Signings still expected

Fabrizio Romano maintains that Tottenham are still expecting to wrap up signings amid fears that the end of the window will come and go without any more new arrivals being wrapped up.

Romano told GiveMeSport: “No concrete update yet, but Spurs are surely expected to bring in new players before the end of the window. Sources believe there will be movements.”

Werner links

In a perhaps surprising rumour, Tottenham loan man Timo Werner is being linked with a move away from the club in the January transfer window. Foot Mercato, report that there is interest from MLS.

The report says New York Red Bulls are interested in signing him from their sister club RB Leipzig, although Tottenham would surely want a replacement before allowing the loan to be terminated.

Postecoglou on Son

Spurs boss Postecoglou has been speaking about Heung-min Son’s poor form of late. He said during his press conference: "I have spoken about Sonny many times. He is an outstanding player and person. He has, like the team, had to grind his way through the last couple of months.

“Again, we are asking him to play a hell of a lot. As attacking players, it’s always more difficult as you need that extra sharpness but he has never shirked the challenge. Last night we really needed some strong leadership and I thought, particularly earlier on, him Madders, Rodri, Ben and Deki. They are the five men we have got in the team, the rest of them are still very young and Richy is only just coming back from injury. It was important they stood up last night and I thought they did that really well."
