Happy-go-lucky Morgan loves nothing more than kicking a ball around with his mates like any 12-year-old and, living in Wrexham, excitement around the sport is at an all-time high.

The youngster is also a Tottenham Hotspur fan, so with newly appointed Ange Postecoglou at the helm and Hollywood-backed Wrexham securing promotion, there's an exciting year of football ahead for Morgan.

Sadly, the Ysgol y Grango pupil is facing a health battle to bounce back and be able to revel in the highs and lows that come with being a passionate young football fan.

Ysgol y Grango School Business Manager Michelle Harvey said: "He was playing on a trampoline and he broke his femur. He went into hospital with a broken femur, when they scanned it they found a mass behind the femur. With some further investigation, it was found to be a cancerous mass."

Morgan is now undergoing 11 weeks of chemotherapy, followed by the removal of his femur and fitting of an extendable rod, and then another 18 weeks of chemotherapy, the most advanced a child can have.

The Tottenham Hotspur fan, who has learnt a love of the club from his Spurs supporting dad, is currently on the fifth round of chemotherapy but it has been refused due to his condition, leaving him on oxygen at the Alder Hey hospital.

With Morgan's parents having to balance working hours with hospital trips and looking after younger sister Erin, 10, Michelle has launched a fundraiser to help ease the family's worries.

She said: "My end goal is I want to be able to pay their bills so they don't have to worry about it. So they can get up every morning and decide to be with him rather than have anything else to worry about because at this time, while he is so poorly - and we fully hope he'll get through this and we'll be with him every step of the way - but should he not, at least they were with him."

The school have been putting together care packages of books and games to send to Morgan and have even bought him an iPad to help pass the time while in hospital.

Michelle added: "He's just so pleasant. He's happy-go-lucky, always smiling and never stressing. He likes kicking a ball around with his mates and watching football on the telly. He loves Tottenham and going to the Wrexham games, which is a bit easier than getting down to Tottenham!

"He loves football, basketball and gaming with his friends."

It's a great time to be a young football fan in Wrexham as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney fund a renaissance that is attracting the attention of sports fans all over the world. Last season the side secured promotion to the Football League in dramatic style and ended a 15-year spell away from the divisions.

Michelle said: "It's brilliant for the town and the area. Everyone is getting involved. Even if you were never a football fan, you're getting involved with Wrexham. It's brought so much of a buzz to the area. People are coming over from America and Canada to the football games, it's an absolute buzz and made it a lot more vibrant around here."

You can help Morgan and get him back to supporting Spurs and Wrexham via the GoFundMe page.
