Tottenham’s interim manager Critsian Stellini says Richarlison is back in training but the Brighton game will come too soon for him as he’s working on his own at the moment.

The Brazilian’s time in north London has been incredibly frustrating with injuries and form not really at the desired level.

His latest injury, picked up at Southampton just before the international break, is the latest in a long line of setbacks but Stellini says he’s working his way back steadily.

He told reporters: “No, no good news about players that come back for the next game. We are getting closer with Richarlison - he trained on the pitch but he trained alone.

“We are going well with Ben Davies but we have to wait a bit of time. Richarlison has started to train on pitch, he is going well. For the next game he could be available.”

The Tottenham manager also touched on the ensuing debate after Abdoulaye Doucoure sending off on Monday night.

The Spurs boss says he was surprised that an ex-player who should know better was going after Harry Kane post match.

He told the team: “I think it’s strange that some ex-players said some things I think are wrong about Harry because they’re ex players and they understand the difference between seeing a situation like this in slow-motion and living this experience in real time.

“It’s completely different. Everton’s manager said it’s a clear red card, so there’s no discussion about this.

“I don’t understand why some players spoke about this. I think they don’t agree with Tottenham, instead of not agreeing with Harry. I think they respect Harry but probably they don’t respect Tottenham enough.”
