‘Brilliant’: Gary Lineker’s priceless reaction to Tottenham’s 2-1 Sheffield United win

Tottenham proved that their impressive start to life under Ange Postecoglou was worth all the pre-match hype with a 2-1 come-from-behind win against Sheffield United in the Premier League.

The nature of the win saw them score two goals in extra time to secure all three points and got Gary Lineker to describe them as brilliant. Richarlison scored one and set up another as Spurs struck twice in stoppage time to come from behind to beat shell-shocked Sheffield United.

Tottenham came into the game as huge favourites but were shocked in the second half when Gustavo Hamer put the visitors ahead and threatened to end the host's unbeaten start to the campaign.

As has often been the case in high-level sports, Richarlison who has had a difficult week stepped up to head home the equaliser deep into extra time, before setting up Dejan Kulusevki to lash home the winner seconds later to secure all three points, keeping the winning run at home going and the Brazilian bagging his first league goal of the season.

Coming into the game Spurs had been unbeaten against Sheffield United in their last five meetings and at 90 minutes would have taken a draw if it were offered to them- but Ange Postecoglou’s side just never stop going and eventually got the reward of all three points.

The Spurs boss would be delighted with the performance of his fringe players as substitute Richarlison was the main designer of what is a brilliant win for the Australian manager as he continues to settle into life in north London.

Tottenham have now won four of their first five league games so far with only Manchester City being the side to have a better start to the campaign than the Lilywhites.
