Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has ruled out Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso from their Premier League game against Sheffield United later today.

The former Real Betis man has been battling injury and hasn't featured as much as he would like this season with the game against the Blades being one he will miss according to his manager.

Postecoglou told the press ahead of the game: “He’s not available for this weekend. He trained with us yesterday but we’re going to give it another week.”

Lo Celso adds to Rodrigo Bentancur who is also missing the game but has returned to training. The Uruguay international was left ‘dejected’ after he was pulled out of training half an hour after joining the first team.

But manager Postecoglou says it was all done in his best interest as there is the need to take things slowly to avoid breakdown. The Spurs boss added: “Rehab is the toughest bit. Talk to any player, it is not just the work but the solitary element of it. He was buzzing yesterday but it is good.

“Fair to say he has a fair bit of work to do and great to have him involved. He was dejected of course when we had to pull him out of it after half an hour.”

Tottenham have won three and drawn one of their first four league games so far and will hope to secure the win that makes this their best start to the season in the last decade.

Tottenham have won three successive league matches, which they failed to do at any stage last season.
