Former Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend is wanted by Konyaspor. The Turkish side have made an offer for the experienced attacker as they look to bolster their ranks.

According to Turkish news outlet Ajansspor, the player is set to make a ‘decision’ about whether to join. He has recently been training with Fatih Karagümrük to keep up his fitness levels.

Townsend, 32, cut ties with Everton at the end of last season after two years on the books at Goodison Park. The ex-England international has since been weighing up his options.

He admitted earlier this year that he was considering his next move in the game and said: “When you hit 28 or 29 years old, it is probably something that is on your mind almost every day (retiring). Before that when you are young, you think your career will last forever.

“You don’t worry about your coaching badges and that side of it. But then in your late 20s when you have kids, honestly it is all you think about! So it is something I have been planning for the last two or three years.

“I have dabbled in the football media as well to get experience there. Consequently, when that day comes when I do retire, it won’t be a culture shock. It won’t be a case of: ‘What am I going to do for the rest of my life now?’

“Hopefully I will be at the stage where I have experience in the media, I’ve got experience in coaching and I’ve got my coaching badges, so it will be a case of which path do I want to take?”

Townsend rose up through the ranks at Spurs and went on to play 93 times for their first-team, chipping in with 11 goals. He also had loan spells away with the likes of Millwall, Leeds United and Birmingham City.

Crystal Palace then signed him in 2016 after he had a year at Newcastle United. He was a hit during his time at Selhurst Park and fired 16 goals in 185 outings with a potential switch to Turkey on the cards for him now.
