Tottenham’s preparation for this weekend’s North London derby has been hit with the news that Ivan Perisic has suffered an ACL injury that essentially rules him out of not only the game but for almost the entire season.

The experienced Croatian had been a growing influence on the team and came off the bench to help the Lilywhites turn the game against Sheffield United on its head.

He will now join the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ryan Sessegnon on the treatment table even though there is the likelihood Bentancur could be back sooner rather than later.

Arsenal have their own injury concerns with Thomas Partey, Gabriel Martinelli and Jurrien Timber all likely to sit out this all-important North London derby with both team looking for a win that estbalished them as a force this campiagn.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Ghanaian Thomas Partey was making progress. He told the press ahead of the game at the Emirates: “We are still assessing him (Gabriel Martinelli), so let’s see if he can make the game or not. Thomas [Partey] for sure is out and the rest are hopefully available.”

Tottenham haven't won at the Emirates since 2010 in the league but the Lilywhites have had a bright start to the campaign, sitting second in the league table with, the same points as Arsenal who sustained a league challenge last season.

The vibe is good going ito the game according to captain Son Heung-min who says the Gunners will not want to play them at this time. He said ahead of the game: “We have had a week to prepare well and I know what it means for the club, the fans and players as well. We understand what kind of game it is.

“It’s going to be a really difficult game but they won’t want to face us at this time.”
