Barcelona are determined to raid Tottenham for Giovani Lo Celso this January transfer window as manager Xavi looks to fix the loss of Gavi. The Spanish team have made the Argentine midfielder their number-one target this winter transfer window.

Xavi identified Lo Celso as a top target in the summer but both the player and Tottenham were keen for him to stay. He has 18 months left on his current deal and Spurs now have a big decision to make regarding his long-term future. The north London club are however not willing to sell anytime soon especially as they will be losing both Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr to the Africa Cup of Nations next month.

That leaves manager Ange Postecoglou with only Lo Celso, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Oliver Skipp as the senior midfielders in the team. Rodrigo Bentancur is out injured and is not expected back until late January 2024. The 27-year-old Lo Celso has taken up a more prominent role for Spurs in the last few weeks, starting four of the last five games.

It remains to be seen how far Barcelona will go to get their man but in other positive news, Spurs have confirmed left-back Destiny Udogie has signed a new long-term deal at the club to reflect his standing as one of the most exciting full-backs in the league.

The Italy left-back has agreed a bumper deal that will keep him at Spurs until 2030. Udogie has started 14 of their 16 Premier League games this season and will now get a significant pay rise and Tottenham protect their asset.  He scored his first goal for the club as they beat Newcastle United 4-1 in the Premier League last weekend.
