Ange Postecoglou blown away by captain Son Heung-min’s ultimate dressing room sacrifice in 2-2 Arsenal draw

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou says both captain Son Heung-min and creative midfielder James Maddison were not %100 fit for the North London derby but came through it perfectly.

Tottenham had to come from behind twice in a show of real character to preserve their unbeaten start to the season. Brennan Johnson who made his first start to the campaign was replaced by Manor Solomon in what looked like an injury and the Spurs boss confirmed he would have to undergo further tests to confirm that.

He told reporters in his press conference after the game: “Not sure with Brennan, it seems like he felt something, I think his hamstring. We’ll assess that. Madders and Sonny weren’t 100% going into the game but they got through it which suggests that it’s nothing serious.”

Spurs continue to build under Postecoglou but this was their first big test of the post-Harry Kane era and it's fair to say they passed it with flying colours. Manager Postecoglou says he was impressed with the output of his team.

He added: “It’s not about being happy with the result, for me it was about the performance. You can get a result here, a draw, and like I said before you can walk away knowing that ‘you know what, we escaped’, but I don’t have that feeling now.

“I think we went toe to toe with a top team and at times I thought we really asserted our dominance in the game. At times they did but that’s what happens when you face top sides.

“Even if we had lost today, and I don’t like losing, but for me to keep pushing these guys, they need to feel that out there that what we talk about and work on, they can see it come to fruition and when it does against a top team, being brave with our approach, that’s the key thing. For me I’m pleased.”
