It's been a busy Deadline Day across the lower leagues with Championship, League One and League Two clubs working hard to push deals over the line.

QPR are set to complete the signing of Isaac Hayden on a loan deal from Newcastle United while Millwall and Charlton Athletic have also been conducting business.

Here's all you need to know about the deadline, including information on the famous deal sheets.

When does the January transfer window shut?

Football clubs in England have just hours left to finalise their January transfer business with the window due to shut at 11 pm on Thursday evening. All negotiations for transfers and loan deals must be complete by this point.

There are different transfer deadlines across the world. Scotland will shut its window at 11:30 pm while La Liga in Spain operates at the same time as the Premier League. French clubs in Ligue 1 have until 10 pm GMT, German clubs in the Bundesliga until 5 pm GMT and Italian clubs in the Serie A until 6 pm GMT.

Can Championship, League One and League Two sides use the deal sheet?

Premier League clubs have the luxury of being able to submit a deal sheet to the relevant bodies if it looks like a transfer is not going to be completed by the 11 pm deadline. This deal sheet allows clubs an extra two hours to finalise paperwork. The deal sheet can only be used in the two hours before the deadline and must be received by the league before 11 pm.

However, Championship, League One and League Two clubs are not able to benefit from the deal sheet - it is only used in the Premier League. Any transfers and loans in the lower leagues must be completed by 11 pm.

The EFL clarifies: "Deal sheets are not in operation in the EFL. In the EFL, all documentation must be provided prior to the deadline closing for the registration of a player to go through."

Which players can be signed after the January transfer deadline?

The only players that can be signed by Championship, League One and League Two clubs after the deadline passes are free agents. These are footballers who are not contracted to a club. Teams can sign free agents until a different deadline in mid-March.

There is, of course, nothing stopping clubs entering negotiations over future transfers ahead of the summer but these cannot be completed until the summer window opens.
