QPR and Stoke City in £5m transfer battle as Millwall confirm contract breakthrough
QPR and Stoke City have been credited with interest in a centre-back currently impressing in Germany.
Millwall will have been looking on with jealousy as Sunderland celebrated a dramatic late Championship play-off semi-final win over Coventry City on Tuesday night to book a place at Wembley Stadium for the final.

Alex Neil’s side were just two points off the top six in the second tier this season and now look to rebuild and launch another play-off push next season. Fresh contract news from The Den will be a boost to those hopes.
Meanwhile, QPR are linked to a Bundesliga 2 star despite questions over the managerial situation at Loftus Road. Here’s your Championship round-up.
QPR and Stoke City battle for £5m defender
QPR could battle Championship rivals Stoke City over a transfer move for Fortuna Dusseldorf centre-back Jamil Siebert this summer with the 23-year-old tipped to make the move away from the Bundesliga 2.
Siebert is contracted at the side until 2027 but journalist Lorenzo Lepore has suggested he could leave Germany ahead of time. The defender has made 20 appearances for the side this season and was previously linked with a move to the Serie A by Roma Press.
The former Germany under-21 international is a product of the Fortuna Dusseldorf youth system and has spent his whole professional career with the club but did spend a season and a half on loan at Viktoria Koln between 2022 and 2023.
QPR have just extended the contract of centre-back Steve Cook and brought in Liam Morrison to play in that position last summer. Previously, Jake Clarke-Salter had been an ever-present at centre-back but endured a torrid season of injuries over the 2024/25 campaign.
Siebert won’t come cheap for the Championship suitors. In March, Get German Football News claimed that a €6 million (£5 million) fee would be needed to push through a transfer - that figure rising to €9 million (£7.5 million) should the club achieve promotion.
Millwall reach contract agreement
Millwall have reached an agreement with highly rated youngster Ra’ees Bangura-Williams to put pen to paper on a new contract at The Den in a big coup for the club.
The 20-year-old has now committed his future to the Lions until 2030, as reported by the South London Press. The midfielder joined the club from Tooting & Mitcham in December 2023 and made his first team debut in the 3-0 FA Cup win over Dagenham & Redbridge this season.
The winger scored in that match and went on to make 13 appearances in all competitions over the back end of the campaign, registering three assists in the Championship. He has not featured since March due to an ankle injury. Bangura-Williams also earned an England under-20 call up in March and came off the bench to see minutes in a 2-2 draw with Switzerland.
The youngster has been tipped to become the ideal replacement for Romain Esse, being the same age as the former Lions man. Millwall sold Esse to Crystal Palace in January for £12 million.
