Blackburn Rovers are reportedly planning contract talks with Fulham-linked Ben Brereton-Diaz.

The Chile international is in the final year on his deal which expires at the end of the season.

His side risk losing him for free next summer (June 2023) if they don’t cash in on him in the January transfer window or agree terms over a contract extension.

According to a report by the Lancashire Telegraph, Rovers want to ‘step up’ negotiations with their main man.

Fulham target

Fulham are claimed to have made offers for Brereton-Diaz in the last window with the latest one being on deadline day, as per the Daily Mail.

He ended up staying at Ewood Park beyond the deadline but his long-term future continues to be up in the air.

The former Nottingham Forest man linked up with Blackburn back in 2018 and initially struggled to find his feet in Lancashire.

However, things changed dramatically for him in the last campaign and he went on to score 22 goals in all competitions.

Brereton-Diaz has chipped in with four so far this term and his team currently sit 6th in the table.

Time will tell whether Fulham rekindle their interest in him this winter and Marco Silva will need to start making transfer plans soon.

The door will certainly swing open for him next summer if he doesn’t put pen-to-paper on fresh terms with Blackburn.
