Fulham were forced to leave key striker Aleksandar Mitrovic out of their squad for their game against West Ham United on Sunday. The Cottagers took the lead after just five minutes after Andreas Pereira’s goal, only for the Hammers to go on and win 3-1 in the end.

Mitrovic, 28, picked up a foot injury whilst on international duty with Serbia at the end of last month. He started against his former club Newcastle United last weekend but ended up being substituted during that one.

Deadline day signing Carlos Vinicius started up front instead of him at the London Stadium but the team missed the presence of their top scorer. He has managed six league goals already this season and it is yet to be known how long he could potentially be out of action for.

‘Have to see’...

Silva has said he will be assessed this week, as per a report by the Evening Standard:

“We have to see day-by-day. We expected for him to be with us this afternoon but unfortunately the last two days he didn’t feel so well. We have to check him, keep assessing him to see if he can start working with the team again.”

Mitrovic is Fulham’s main goal threat and they will hope he is back for their home clash against AFC Bournemouth this weekend at Craven Cottage as they look to return to winning ways. They have now lost back-to-back games and have slipped down to 9th in the league table.
