Fulham targeting swoop for Eredivisie ace before the end of the transfer window
Latest news on the transfer front involving Fulham emerges to start a new week
Fulham are reportedly interested in FC Twente full-back Joshua Brenet. The Cottagers are keen to bring in a new right-back before the end of the January transfer window.
According to a report by the Express, Marco Silva’s side have held ‘informal talks’ over luring the defender over to the Premier League with a move for Arsenal’s Cedric Soares currently still up in the air. The London outfit wants someone to compete with Kenny Tete with Kevin Mbabu expected to depart this winter.
Brenet, 28, only joined Twente 12 months ago but has caught the eye for the Eredivisie club. Since joining, he has made 33 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with six goals and three assists. His versatility may also be what attracts Fulham to him and he can also operate on the left side of defence as well.
He has played over 200 games so far in his career and has also had spells at PSV, Hoffenheim and Vitesse in the past. His current contract expires in 2024 but a switch to England could be on the cards over the next week before the deadline.
In other Fulham news, Silva has urged defender Issa Diop to show more self-belief. He has said, as per the Irish News: “I just want him to believe more in himself because he is a very good defender, first of all, and, when we signed him, we knew that we are going to sign a good defender but at the same time a fast central defender as well.”
