Defender wanted

According to Turkish news outlet Takvim, Fulham are ‘interested’ in a swoop for Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson ahead of the January transfer window as Marco Silva eyes potential reinforcements to his squad. The Denmark international, who has 10 caps under his belt so far in his career, moved to Turkey in 2021 and has since made 93 appearances for the Super Lig giants in all competitions, chipping in with a single goal and two assists from the back.

Nelsson started his career with spells as a youngster at Hornbæk IF and Nordsjælland before signing for Copenhagen in 2019. The 24-year-old then spent two years in the Danish capital before he was lured to Rams Park for a new challenge abroad.

Midfielder update

Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha remains Bayern Munich’s ‘top target’ this winter after they saw a move for the Portugal international fall through late in the last transfer window, as per 90min. The same report suggests the Bundesliga giants will turn to Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips as a potential alternative target if they fail to get their man again, with the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham, Aston Villa and Spurs all said to be monitoring the former Leeds man who has slipped out of favour at the Etihad Stadium.

Palhinha, 28, made the switch to Craven Cottage last year following the Whites’ promotion from the Championship under Silva. He adapted with ease to life in England last term and played 40 games.
