Fulham are reported to be interested in Leicester City defender Jannik Vestergaard.

The Cottagers could hand the Denmark international as an escape route from the King Power Stadium in this transfer window.

Vestergaard, 29, has struggled to make an impact with the Foxes since joining them from Southampton last year.

The Sun report Marco Silva’s side are keen to sign him this summer to bolster their defensive department.

The centre-back still has three years left on his contract with his current club but has slipped down the pecking order.

Fulham target emerges

Fulham could see Vestergaard as someone to provide competition and depth at the back as they prepare for a tough season ahead in the Premier League.

He was a hit with his former club Southampton and went on to play 79 times for the Saints in all competitions, having previously been on the books at Hoffenheim, Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach in Germany.

However, his move to Leicester in August 2021 hasn’t worked out for him and he only played 10 league games in the last campaign.

A switch to Craven Cottage would help him get his career back on track and he would get more game time with the London club if Silva’s side were able to strike a deal to get him.
