Crystal Palace are preparing for another year in the Premier League again and have an important summer ahead

Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for Graham Potter with it yet to be known whether Roy Hodgson will be sticking around for next season. The Eagles finished 11th in the Premier League table in the last campaign.

Pundit Andros Townsend, who was on the books at Selhurst Park from 2016 to 2021, believes his former club would be ‘lucky’ to attract some of that calibre. The winger has been released by fellow top flight club Everton this summer.

Potter, who is 48-years-old, is weighing up his next move in the game following his sacking by Chelsea earlier this year. He lasted only seven month with the London club.

Townsend believes he would be ideal for Crystal Palace and has said on talkSPORT: “I think Palace would be lucky to get a manager of his quality. His Brighton teams were the hardest to play against so if Palace could attract someone of that quality they would be on the right track.”

After his exit from Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said: ‘On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome.”

Prior to his unsuccessful spell with the Blues, he spent three years at Brighton and Hove Albion and was a hit during his spell at the AMEX Stadium. The Solihull-born man caught the eye with his attractive style of football before he was lured away.

Potter has also worked in Sweden with Ostersund and Wales with Swansea City in the past. He may feel he has a point to prove again now and has a big decision on where he wants to go next, with Crystal Palace mentioned as a potential next destination.
