Why Crystal Palace are training in Spain this week and latest Michael Olise injury update

Crystal Palace are in Spain and will play Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt in a friendly on Thursday afternoon.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has moved his team from south London to Marbella Spain, in a bid to boost their fitness ahead of the last 10 games of the Premier League season.

The Eagles boss is taking a leaf from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who flew his team to Dubai for warm weather training and the Gunners have since not looked back from then. The Premier League is unrelenting, and fitness is at the centre of anything technical or skill and the new Palace boss is determined to to whip players into shape, LondonWorld sources have said.

He believes training in the warm weather will provide his players with an extra boost fitness-wise to see out what is left of the campaign.

Palace impressed massively against Tottenham before collapsing and losing 3-1 in the last 15 minutes of the game in north London. They then took the lead against Luton Town only to concede with the last kick of the game against the Hatters.

That is four points from a possible six in the last 20 minutes of games and manager Glasner who is reportedly happy with the talented squad he's inherited is determined to improve their fitness straight away. This weekend's game against Newcastle has been postponed which gives the Eagles a three-week window without a game, so the decision to head to Spain makes up for the gap created by Newcastle's involvement in the FA Cup

Michael Olise latest

Exciting winger Michael Olise has reportedly travelled with the team and is determined to be fit for when they return to action against Nottingham Forest on the 31st of this month. Olise hasn't played since being forced off against Brighton but there is light at the end of the tunnel with the French forward now able to run on the grass.

Sources have said he's almost ready and pushing to be ready for the next league game. Marc Guehi who has had surgery on his knees is also not too far away even though he hasn't started running.

The Eagles are 14th on the league table but crucially eight points above the drop.
