Crystal Palace go in search of their first Premier League win of the year when they welcome Liverpool to Selhurst this weekend.

The Eagles came mighty close to securing their first win of the year before a last-gasp  Vitaly Janelt strike reduced three points into one. That result now means Patrick Vieira’s side have drawn four and lost three of their last seven games.

Anything but three points at the weekend will equal their 2020 winless run in the Premier League (eight games) and dampen spirits ahead of games against Manchester City, Aston Villa, Brighton and Arsenal to come.

When Patrick Vieira took over last season, the project was to turn the style of play into an excitin-front-foot-football but this season has brought along its own challenges, and despite being 12th on the league table- the Red and Blue side are just six points away from a relegation fight.

On the positive side no- team has won more games after conceding the first goal than Crystal Palace this season, so not much of the game plan should change even if Liverpool do get the first goal on Saturday evening in south London.

The Eagles have also been boosted by the fact Tyrick Mitchell who looked to have injured his ankle against Brentford is back in training and should be fit for the game. Fans were worried when he was withdrawn late on at the Gtech stadium even though it turned out to be precautionary.

Liverpool themselves have their form issues having been battered by Real Madrid 5-2 at Anfield in the Champions League. So Jurgen Klopp’s team come to Selhurst looking for a swift response and a result that keeps their top four hopes alive.
