Crystal Palace will need to respond after a lackadaisical performance against Fulham on Boxing Day. The Eagles were beaten 3-0 with manager Patrick Vieira describing it as one of the ‘worst’ days of his life.

Left-back Tyrick Mitchell was dismissed for a lunge on opposing full-back Tete with the Eagles 1-0 down due to a Bobby Reid opener. Then James Tomkins was sent off later for a deliberate attempt to stop Aleksandar Mitrović going through on a loose ball.

At that moment any chance of a comeback was dashed at Fulham saw out an easy win to move into the top half of the table. Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira, visibly upset with the performance, will be hoping that his players can come up with an improved performance when they take on the Cherries this weekend.

The Eagles will also be without James McArthur, one of their best midfielders from last season, alongside Conor Gallgaher and Cheikhou Kouyaté who have both left the club. There is a growing concern that Palace’ midfield is light.

Defender Nathan Ferguson who has been battling injury since the start of the season will also not be involved again on Saturday but there is some positive news with Marc Guehi who is one of the leaders of the team set to come back after sitting out the Fulham game due to suspension.

The Eagles fans will be delighted that Guehi is available given the defensive calamities they faced against Fulham in his absence.
