Their deal for Jordan Ayew is quite straightforward as it was an extension of his running contract, and with both club and player happy with each other, it was just a matter of time before an agreement was reached.

The club is not expected to announce the deal though till the season is properly over and transfer window officially opened.

Palace have a big summer ahead of them and are still waiting to hear from Chelsea regarding Conor Gallagher, the midfielder will return to his parent club and have a go at pre-season before a decision is made on his future.

But all that still depends on the incomings and outgoings Thomas Tuchel’s side will have and the offers that could be tempting for the 22-year-old midfielder who has been capped by England.

There are also advanced talks to extend the contract of midfielder Cheikhou Kouyaté who is considered a senior member of the team and has contributed more this season than most would have thought.

The Senegal international is holding out for a two year deal while the club is willing to offer one, but there are strong indications that a compromise would be found to get the midfielder stay beyond this season.

Assistant captain James McArthur is also in talks to extend his time at the club even though he is also taking giant steps toward obtaining his coaching badges.

Everyone at Palace thinks he will be a good manager in the future and his contribution to the team both on and off the field has been exemplary this season.

Palace are still recovering from a bruising defeat to Everton in midweek but have to quickly turn attention to Manchester United, their last game of the season.

Patrick Vieira’s side have enjoyed a largely successful season and will hope to end it all on the high with a win against United at Selhurst.

Palace are sweating on the fitness of several key players ahead of the game, with exciting youngsters Michael Olise and Nathan Ferguson already ruled out of the game. Nathan in particular has endured a wretched season.

James McArthur and Marc Guehi are also huge doubts with the defender again feeling pain in his ankle during the 3-2 defeat to Everton.

Guehi has been a pillar at the heart of the Palace defence and his absence will be a huge blow to Vieira as he goes in search of a strong finish to the season.
