Crystal Palace target Matt O’Riley has reportedly been watched by fellow Premier League side Newcastle United. The midfielder has been a key player for Celtic since joining the Scottish Premiership side in January.
The Denmark international helped Ange Postecoglou’s side win the title last season and has adapted well to life in Scotland since his switch from League One side MK Dons. The Sun has reported that Newcastle’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson took a look at him in action for the Hoops against Hibs.

The same report has reiterated the fact that the former Fulham ace is a player who is ‘liked’ by Patrick Viera’s side ahead of the January transfer window. However, it appears he has other suitors in England.
Celtic situation
Celtic swooped to land him on a four-and-a-half deal (until May 2026) so he has plenty of time left on his contract with the Glasgow giants. He has made 34 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with four goals and seven assists.
Crystal Palace could see him as someone to add more competition and depth into their midfield department. At the age of just 21, O’Riley has the potential to develop in the future and would be a decent long-term option for the Selhurst Park club.
Newcastle are claimed to be keeping tabs on his progress at the moment as well though so the Eagles will have to see off competition if they were to lure him down to South London. Viera’s men drew 0-0 away at Leicester City yesterday.
