Crystal Palace have tied up a new deal for attacker Asher Agbinone. The Eagles have handed the youngster his first professional contract, as announced on their official club website.

Agbinone, 17, is being tipped for a bright future in the game and Patrick Viera’s side will be hoping he can break into the first-team picture over the next few years. He can up front or on either flank.

He has risen up through the acadmey at Selhurst Park and has been a regular for the club at various youth levels over the past few years. The teenager made his debut for the U18s at the end of last season in clash against fellow London club Fulham.

‘Big moment’...

Agbinone is delighted to have put pen-to-paper with Crystal Palace and has told their website: “It’s a big moment, I’m happy to sign my first professional contract. It’s time to do my talking on the pitch.

“This is something I’ve been aiming for – it’s big for a lot of players, especially me. I’ve reached this through hard work, but this is just the start. I’ve got to keep working hard, keep putting in the effort in training and in games to hopefully get to the first-team one day.”

U18s manager Rob Quinn has said: “Asher is a skillful forward who can cause a lot of problems for defenders on the left, right or through the middle.

“He is a talented player who has been at the club since Under-9s and he has worked tirelessly to secure his first professional contract. Asher will use this as motivation to push on for the rest of the season and beyond.”

Crystal Palace’s senior side picked up a 2-1 win over Leeds United over the weekend and have risen up to 15th in the table, three points above the drop zone. They are back in action on Saturday away at Leicester City as they look to make it back-to-back.
