Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze sends QPR 55-word message ahead of Carabao Cup match

Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze has sent a heartfelt message to former club QPR ahead of this week's Carabao Cup meeting at Loftus Road.

The Championship side will host the Premier League visitors on Tuesday night in the third round of the cup competition. QPR have overcome Cambridge United and Luton Town so far in the cup while the Eagles cruised past Norwich City 4-0 last month.

The fixture at Loftus Road will mark the second return for Eze since leaving QPR in 2020. The player visited with Crystal Palace for a friendly in the summer of 2022 and found the back of the net in that 2-0 win.

It's the first time that the 26-year-old will play in a competitive fixture against the R's and Eze sent a message to his former side via the QPR social media channel over the weekend. He said: "Hi QPR fans, it's Eze here. I'm looking forward to coming back on Tuesday, always grateful for the support and love you show me. It's going to be a great day for sure. I'm not going to be supporting you that day but, other than that, you know the love is always there. God bless."

Eze joined QPR in 2016 having spent time in the youth academies at Arsenal, Fulham, Reading and Millwall. He spent four years at Loftus Road, one season of which on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, and racked up 112 appearances for QPR.

During those outings, the attacking midfielder picked up 20 goals and 13 assists, playing under Ian Holloway, Steve McClaren and Mark Warburton. He left QPR to join Crystal Palace in August 2020 for a reported £17 million with the R's having rejected an earlier £12 million from their South London rivals.

Since arriving at Selhurst Park, Eze has set the Premier League alight with 27 goals and 15 assists in the top flight across 116 appearances.
