Cheick Doucoure latest update as Crystal Palace handed triple boost ahead of Nottingham Forest
Crystal Palace will take all the positives they can get at the moment as they look for their first win.
Crystal Palace will likely have Malian midfielder Cheick Doucoure back for their Monday night game against Nottingham Forest, marking the first time he will be fit and available for three games. Manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that Doucoure is likely to be ready, though they still have a few training sessions left.
Glasner said, “We still have training later today and we will see after that, but yeah, let's see what happens with him.”
His return could mean that Palace will have the same midfield that impressed against Chelsea a month ago, with Adam Wharton, Eberechi Eze, and Doucoure forming the core of the engine room.
Injuries aren’t the only concern for Palace’s opponents, as Nottingham Forest has been dealt a double blow. Star man Morgan Gibbs-White, who picked up an injury in the last game, has still not recovered and will not be playing.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo said, "He's still injured. Hopefully, for the next game, he's going to be available." However, even Santo won't be on the bench, as he is serving a three-game ban for his role in the melee against Brighton. The Portuguese manager has been sensational this season for the Tricky Trees, and it will be interesting to see how his team copes without him on the sidelines.
Palace finds themselves in relegation form, and there's no denying that they need a win to ease the pressure on Glasner, who remains confident that the club is behind him and will give him the support needed to turn things around.
However, rumours persist, with growing reports that if results don't improve soon, the club could be forced into considering the experienced David Moyes to ensure they retain their Premier League status.
There is hope, though.
