The news of his absence got fans worried with speculations that he might have fallen out with the manager after finding out he wasn’t in the team or picked up an injury, and the former was the right call.

What Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said

The Champions League winning manager told BBC Radio 5 just before the game: “We had to leave him out because of a hamstring issue which was unfortunate but we have others to step in.”

The Blues are hoping to avoid losing a third consecutive FA Cup final and by doing so ensuring that also Liverpoool remain a side that has never won the FA Cup under the Wembley arch.

Thomas Tuchel also decided that his side should wear the yellow kit for this final, the same one they wore for the semi-final win over Crystal Palace.

The German manager said he wanted to win the FA Cup with his side wearing yellow as a sign of luck.
