Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to be relieved of his Stamford Bridge duties imminently following the side’s disastrous performance against Arsenal. Tuesday evening saw the Blues endure a 5-0 hammering at the Emirates stadium with Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz and Ben White all making it past Djorde Petrovic.

Chelsea have endured another torrid season and currently sit ninth in the league, well out of any European places, with 11 losses recorded. Their recent 4-3 win over Manchester United and 6-0 thumping over Everton had brought momentary relief to the club but this did not last long enough with TEAMtalk now reporting that Pochettino will be sacked soon. The report indicates that co-owner ‘Behdad Eghbali has been a regular presence at the training ground in recent days.’

Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim is said to be open to negotiations over replacing Pochettino but with the Portuguese manager already linked with a move to Liverpool and West Ham, Chelsea will have to move fast. Last month the Blues were also linked with prizing Brighton’s Roberto de Zerbi away from the Amex Stadium but there has since been little indication that this has progressed.

If Stamford Bridge were to remove Pochettino from his post, they would owe the Argentinian a huge amount of money and as the club are looking to cut costs due to the Financial Fair Play regulations taking effect, it is highly likely they will wait until the end of the season. The 52-year-old former centre-back joined Chelsea at the start of the season, signing a two-year contract with an option to extend.

The Argentinian had previously managed at Espanyol and Southampton before being targeted by Tottenham Hotspur in 2014. He was with the Lilywhites for five years before moving to PSG in 2021. In his 45 games in charge of Chelsea, Pochettino has won 21 altogether, giving him a win percentage of 46.67.
