The 22-year-old has penned a bumper eight-and-a-half year contract with the London outfit. Speaking after signing, he has told the club website:

“I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea. This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff.”

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is pleased to have got this one over the line and has said:

“We are delighted to welcome Mykhailo to Chelsea. He’s a hugely exciting talent who we believe will be a terrific addition to our squad both now and in the years to come. He will add further depth to our attack and we know he’ll get a very warm welcome to London.”

Mudryk has spent the past eight years on the books at Shakhtar Donetsk and made 44 appearances for their first-team, chipping in with 12 goals, of 10 which came this season. He has caught the eye over recent times playing in the Ukrainian Premier League and has now earned his transfer to England.

The winger will be eager to show what he can do with Chelsea and he fits the profile of the players they are targeting at the moment. They are opting for youngsters who they can develop over the next few years and he follows Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos and David Fofana through the door.

Mudryk will give them another option to choose from in attacking areas ahead of the second-half of the campaign. Graham Potter’s side will be aiming to climb up the league table after a tough past couple of months.
