Mauricio Pochettino's nightmare confirmed with latest injuries but £40m star recovers in time for Arsenal

Chelsea's hopes of having Reece James for their game against Arsenal in doubt but Palmer could return

Chelsea captain Reece James has had to withdraw from group training after a setback in his recovery and is now likely to miss the game against Arsenal this weekend.

The captain had been in line to start against Burnley but his suspension and the international break were meant to give him enough time to recover instead, he felt something and has had to take a step back.

James has only played one game this season and that was the opening day against Liverpool with manager Mauricio Pochettino hoping to slowly bring him back this weekend.

Last season he missed 24 games for the club and saw his dream of playing at the World Cup dashed due to the injury and while when he returned he played well- he just could not find the consistency that is required at this level.

Another player who has suffered a setback is Carney Chukwuemeka who felt something in training and will also likely miss the game this weekend.

It is not all doom and gloom though as Cole Palmer who was sent back to Cobham early has recovered from his dead leg and is in line to to play a part this weekend.

The former Manchester City youngster has been on fine form and scored his first goal in that win against Burnley before the international break. Axel Disasi who also had to pull out of the France team is also back in Cobham and will likely be ready for what is expected to be a close London derby with Arsenal looking to put up another title challenge.
